The IHC Adipocytes+ App identifies adipocytes and cellular aggregates inbetween the adipocytes. Small rips in adipocyte membranes are mended automatically and cell membrane artefacts in adipocyte lumina are automatically eliminated. The App outputs number and area measurements for all detected adipocytes as well as number and area of cellular aggregates.

Cluster detection

Combined detection
The IHC Adipocyte+ App allows users to adjust detection and segmentation parameters to suit different tissue preparations and staining qualities:
- Color separation: Define markers automatically or manually to ensure accurate separation of signals.
- Membrane detection: Adjust thresholds for both pattern-based and intensity-based detection, with options to remove small or spurious structures.
- Fat cell refinement: Apply post-processing to exclude objects below a defined size, or use manual correction tools to add/remove fat cells as needed.
- Cluster analysis: Modify detection radius for clusters and correct results interactively with drawing tools.
These features ensure that both membrane structures and adipocytes can be reliably segmented and corrected, even in challenging samples.
The app provides quantitative data at different biological levels:
- Fat cells: Area, equivalent diameter, and frequency distributions of adipocyte size.
- Membranes: Detected areas and intensity-based measurements for membrane markers.
- Clusters: Number of nuclei within clusters and their spatial relationship to fat cells.
- Spatial metrics: Distances between adipocytes and clusters to study tissue organization.
- Statistics export: Generate ROI- or sample-based reports directly within the software, or export raw data for further analysis.
Together, these outputs deliver a comprehensive dataset to support studies on adipose tissue structure, cell size distribution, and the relationship between fat cells and surrounding cell populations.
