Webinar: Unlocking the Lymphoid Structures with Germinal Centers

Dr. Diana Mechtcheriakova, Medical University of Vienna, presents her research on the role of lymphoid structures (LS) in the systemic immunity and the anti-cancer response. Several studies on metastatic colorectal cancer are summarized with the emphasis on LS. The TissueFAXS slide scanner was used for tissue imaging and HistoQuest for single-cell quantifications.

The Role of PD-1+ Treg/PD-1+ CTL Ratio and Tertiary Lymphoid Structures in Gastric Cancer

A new study investigated the ratio of PD-1+ Treg/PD-1+ CTL as a predictor of prognosis in gastric cancer. The team showed that combining PD-1+ Treg/PD-1+ CTL ratio with TLS was significantly associated with prognosis and treatment response. mIF-stained slides were imaged using the TissueFAXS SL scanner and image analysis was performed with StrataQuest.

CD39CD8 T cells

CD39+CD8+ T Cells as a Marker for Diagnosis and Prognosis of ESCC

A research team from China investigated the role of CD39+CD8+ T cells in the diagnosis and prognosis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), based on the potential inhibitory effect of CD39 in cancers. After mIF staining of the slides with patient tissue samples, the slides were acquired using TissueFAXS platform. As a result, the team proposed CD39+CD8+ T cells as a new molecular marker for the diagnosis and prognosis of ESCC.

Tcl1a B cells

TCL1A+ B Cells Are Critical for TLS Formation and the Prognosis of OSCC

The researchers elucidated the role of B cells in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). They employed mIF to investigate the spatial distribution of TCL1A in OSCC tissues and used TissueFAXS scanner for whole-slide imaging. The team demonstrated that TCL1A+ B cells are associated with TLS formation in OSCC and may also serve as a positive prognostic factor.
